Conclusions

  • The Tagus Estuary is light limited

  • A large part of the nutrients is exported to the ocean without being consumed
  • The 50% reduction of Nitrate by Agriculture Systems would not reduce the primary production of biomass in the Tagus Estuary
  • The total nutrients removal by WWTP would have negligible effects on the primary production of biomass
